IG Intelligence transfered out

Chennai: S. Davidson Devasirvatham, IPS, has been removed from the post of Inspector-General of Police, Intelligence, Chennai. He is replaced by K.N. Sathiyamurthy, IG, Tiruchi, who has been transferred and posted as new IG Intelligence with immediate effect, according to a release from Apurva Varma, Home Secretary. Six police stations in Tirupur district to move to modern buildings

Tirupur: As many as six police stations in the district will be moved to modern buildings over a short span of time. The construction works on the new buildings for police stations at Palladam, Amavarathi, Kunnathur, Tirupur North and Cheyur are fast progressing.The bhumi pooja to commence the works on the new building for ‘15 Velampalayam’ police station in Tirupur city was performed on Wednesday. Two arrested for triple murder

Madurai: The district police have arrested two persons, including a woman, in connection with the murder of three brothers near Peraiyur on Tuesday. The police identified the arrested as G. Ettappan (35) of Santhaiyur and his wife Muthulakshmi (32). The police had booked 10 persons, including four women, all relatives of Jeyaraman who was murdered by the three youths – N.

Couple held on cheating charge

Mysur: A couple, who was on the run after allegedly cheating several people of their hard-earned money by promising residential sites and other incentives, was finally arrested by the city police on Saturday. Satyanarayana (56) and his wife Anuradha (49), who used to stay in Chamundipuram in the city, had collected about Rs. 2 crore from several people by promising sites or double the money in a short period of time, the police said.

Two arrested in call money sex scandal

Vijayawada: The city police on Sunday arrested two private money lenders, Yelamanchily Srirama Murthy and Dudala Rajesh, in the alleged call money-cum-sex scandal. Following a complaint by a woman victim with the Machavaram police, the two accused were taken into custody and five more involved  in the racket have been identified. The modus operandi of the accused is to offer loans to needy persons after obtaining promissory notes and blank cheques from them.

Imported masks distributed to traffic police personnel

Coimbatore: Traffic police , who are exposed to constant smoke and pollution , are more vulnerable to respiratory problems. Since they are constantly exposed to such hazards, Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Oncology and Research on Saturday distributed imported industrial standard masks which was donated by a firm as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity.

Vellore police crack down on 2-wheeler theft

Vellore: To prevent two wheeler thefts across the district, police teams were involved in night patrols, checks at parking lots and vehicle checks under the supervision of all Deputy Superintendents of Police and inspectors. During these inspections, the police have nabbed vehicle lifters and seized about 50 two wheelers from them. Steps have been taken to hand over these vehicles to the owners through the court.

EOW conducts raids at 25 locations

Mumbai: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai Police on Friday conducted raids at more than 25 locations in Maharashtra in connection with a case of alleged financial crimes by a company named Sai Prasad Group of Companies. Sources said the company has been under the scanner since 2013 for alleged financial irregularities, including running ponzi schemes and illegal fundraising, and is being investigated by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

Fake HP product maker raided

Mumbai: The Pydhonie police, in a joint effort with Enforcers of Intellectual Property Rights, raided a manufacturing unit at Dongri that was allegedly making fake HP and Canon products. The police seized a large number of fake products including toners, cartridge boxes, security labels, sealing machines and hologram. The police have registered a case under the Copyright Act and have arrested one accused from the spot, identified as Rajendra Ghanchi.
