Police issue guidelines on how to ‘raid’

Delhi: Caught on the back foot for alleged breach of protocol while “raiding” the Kerala House canteen earlier this week, the Delhi Police have issued a one-page circular on the rules to be followed while taking any action against State bhawans.The circular states that police officers should contact the resident commissioners of State bhawans in case the situation requires preventive action.

Four arrested on charge of murder

Bengaluru: In a scene straight out of a movie, two brothers from Adugodi avenged the suicide of their sister in 2012, by murdering the man they suspected was responsible for her death. The killing took place on October 20 and the suspects were arrested on Saturday. Gabbu alias Venkatesh (35) was found dead with cuts all over his body in Adugodi on the night of October 20.

New police chief: Prisons

Chennai: The State government late on Friday transferred the city Commissioner of Police, S. George, and posted him as Additional Director-General of Police (Prisons). The current Additional Director-General of Police (Law and Order), T.K. Rajendran, will be the city Police Commissioner. A 1984-batch IPS officer, Mr. George headed the Chennai Police for three years.

New police chief for Chennai City

Chennai: The new City Police Commissioner, Additional Director General of Police T.K. Rajendaran, is a postgraduate in Defence Studies from University of Madras. A native of Olaipadi in Tiruvannamalai district, Mr. Rajendran, 58, had his primary education at a government panchayat union school in his native village and did his graduation in defence studies from Voorhees College, Vellore.

Three arrested for kidnapping and robbing doctor

Police have arrested three persons for kidnapping and robbing a 40-year-old doctor on Thursday. The main accused was the son of a diabetic patient undergoing treatment with the doctor for four years. Chinna alias Ebran Christi (32) of Katpadi along with his friends Sreejith (24) and Anuj (24) of Kerala had kidnapped Pradeep John Pramod of Karnampattu and robbed Rs. 1,10,000 from him on October 6 and left him near the New Bus Stand.

Four arrested in inter-State fake driving licence scam

Karnataka: The Bidar police have busted an inter-State fake driving license (DL) printing scam and arrested four of the accused. Acting on a tip off on Wednesday, G.M. Patil, police sub inspector, arrested Jilanimia Mashaq Sab, 51, of Tadola in Basava Kalyan taluk while he was waiting for a bus. Fake DLs, seals and documents of regional transport offices of Karnataka and Maharashtra were recovered from his bag.

90 kg ganja seized, 75-year-old man detained

Ramanathapuram: Organised Crime Intelligence Unit (OCIU) detained an old man with 90 kg of ganja and seized the contraband.Acting on a tipoff, an OCIU team raided Alaikattavalasai, a coastal hamlet at Irumeni near Uchipuli on Thursday and seized the ganja, packed in 45 packets, and detained M. Azhagarsamy (75) of Pandiyur.
