Three arrested for smuggling cattle

Krishnagiri: Three persons were arrested for cattle smuggling and 14 bulls were rescued at Denkanikottai during a vehicle check on Sunday. Police based on a tip-off that cattle was being smuggled illegally into Karnataka, intercepted a lorry near Thalli - Denkanikottai Road. The lorry was found carrying 14 bulls illegally. Three held by Hosur Police

Hosur: Three men were secured for indulging in a treasure hunt in an ancient temple at Thendurgam here on Thursday. According to the police, a 10-member gang had arrived in two SUVs to the ancient Mariamman temple. Three men were performing some rites inside the sanctum sanctorum, while the others stood guard to prevent any intrusion. However, the sudden movement of outsiders had alerted the locals, who informed the police.

Looters robbed bank at Krishnagiri, Police taking necessary action

KRISHNAGIRI: In a major bank heist in Krishnagiri in Tamil Nadu, a gang broke into the Kundarapalli branch of Bank of Baroda in Krishnagiri district and robbed 2,500 sovereigns of gold and cash worth more than Rs 15 crore, police said. Bank staff discovered the robbery when they came to work at 9.45am on Saturday morning. This is the only nationalised bank for 100 villages in the area. More than 1,000 customers have accounts in the branch.

PDS rice seized, one held

Krishnagiri: About 500 kg of rice meant for Public Distribution System (PDS) was seized from a car here on Sunday. A release from V. Tamilvanan, Inspector of Police, Civil Supplies, CID Wing, said that on a tip off, and instructions from Sekar, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Civil Supplies, CID Wing, Coimbatore Zone, vehicle check was intensified near Government Headquarters Hospital. A team intercepted the car and found 10 bags of ration rice in it.

Quack arrested

Krishnagiri: A quack, who was practising as allopathic specialist, was arrested on KRP Dam Road near Krishangiri on Monday night. Based on complaints from the public, a team of officials headed by S. Tamilarasan, Joint Director, Health Services, raided Lakshmi Clinic on KRP Dam Road.Inquiries revealed that the accused S. Paramasivam of Tirupatthur was not a qualified medical practitioner and only studied up to Plus-Two. He was arrested by the Kaveripattinam police.

Case registered against 11 for extracting blue-metal on government land

Krishnagiri: A case has been registered against eleven persons for extracting blue-metal on Government land in Jagadap village in Kaveripattinam panchayat on Saturday.Police sources said that on the basis of a complaint lodged by the Village Administrative Officer Annamalai, the Kaveripattinam police have filed a case against eleven persons. Further investigations are on.

Two officials arrested for fraud

Two officials of a Primary Agricultural Cooperative Bank (PACB), Ponneri near Harur were arrested by the Economic Offences Wing of the Dharmapuri police on the charges of defrauding to the tune of Rs. 31.60-lakh in extending jewellery loan for imitation jewellery here on Saturday . The two officials were placed under suspension immediately.

Police check security arrangements at orphanages, ladies hostels

Following the sexual assault on two girl children in a private hostel in Pollachi in Coimbatore district, police officials in Krishnagiri district started checking orphanages, hostels and ladies hostels across the district for verifying the security aspects regarding women and children, said P. Electric detonators, gelatine sticks seized; two arrested

Hosur: The Naxal Special Duty(NSD) wing of the district police seized 200 electric detonators and 100 gelatine sticks from two persons in Kathirapalli village near Hosur on Wednesday evening. It was alleged that the duo Murugan (23) of Sanasandiram and Raman (65) of Agaram Murugan Temple were arrested while they were proceeding to a quarry. They were handed over to the Hosur HUDCO police. HUDCO police have registered a case and are investigating.

Man arrested

Krishnagiri: Man arrested near Shoolagiri here on Thursday. A team of officials led by Joint Director of Health Services S. Tamizharasan, District Siddha Medicine Officer Manju Hemamalini and Shoolagiri Inspector of Police Subash arrested N. Suguna of Semmankuzhi hamlet near Ulagam village. The team found that the woman was practicing allopathic medicine. The police were asked to take criminal action against the accused.
