EOW conducts raids at 25 locations

Mumbai: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Mumbai Police on Friday conducted raids at more than 25 locations in Maharashtra in connection with a case of alleged financial crimes by a company named Sai Prasad Group of Companies. Sources said the company has been under the scanner since 2013 for alleged financial irregularities, including running ponzi schemes and illegal fundraising, and is being investigated by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

Fake HP product maker raided

Mumbai: The Pydhonie police, in a joint effort with Enforcers of Intellectual Property Rights, raided a manufacturing unit at Dongri that was allegedly making fake HP and Canon products. The police seized a large number of fake products including toners, cartridge boxes, security labels, sealing machines and hologram. The police have registered a case under the Copyright Act and have arrested one accused from the spot, identified as Rajendra Ghanchi.

18-year-old student raped in Pune, accused arrested

Pune: An 18-year- old college girl was allegedly raped by a man when she approached him to seek directions after she lost her way, following which the accused has been arrested, police said on Thursday.The girl, a student of a reputed college here, who was new to the city lost her way near Babasaheb Ambedkar Bhawan while going to meet a friend at another educational institute on Monday late night, an officer at Bund Garden police station said.

Vadodara(Gujarat) tense after religious clashes, 140 arrested

Gujarat: Police in Vadodara have arrested 140 people after two men were stabbed during violence between Hindus and Muslims that left more than a dozen injured and was triggered by an image posted on Facebook, officials said on Monday. The violence in Gujarat coincides with a visit to the United States by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is set to meet President Barack Obama later on Monday on a trip emphasizing India's economic potential.

Maharashtra Police say no to Akbaruddin Owaisi's Thane visit

Hyderabad: Maharashtra police on Monday denied entry to the controversial Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi to Thane, a day ahead of his scheduled visit there, by serving him a notice in which they cited alleged hate speeches delivered by him in the past.  However, Owaisi, who represents Chandrayangutta Assembly constituency, said he would fight out the notice legally.

Fire on Maharashtra police's speed boat, two workers injured

MUMBAI: A speed boat of Maharashtra Police caught fire on Monday after an explosion while its engine was being cleaned by two maintenance workers at a creek in Belapur in neighbouring Navi Mumbai, police said. The two workers sustained burn injuries and were rushed to nearby hospital, according to NRI Coastal police.

Online car selling cartel busted

MUMBAI: The city crime branch on Friday busted a major racket selling online high end vehicles with the arrest of four Nigerians. On Thursday the property cell had arrested Vikrant Shriodkar and Mahfoz Shaikh alias Guddu and their interrogations led police to Goregaon from where they arrested the four Nigerians Nationals. The four accused have been identified as David Amuche, Frank Chinedu, Philip Ikani and Emeka Uzoechi.
