Police presence along border hamlets has yielded results

Coimbatore: The Nilgiris and Coimbatore District Police said that increasing police presence in the hamlets bordering Tamil Nadu and Kerala has helped them gather intelligence inputs by getting closer to people. The police are confident that this will play a key role in curtailing attempts by Maoists from Kerala to enter Tamil Nadu.

Major crimes reduced in 2015 at West Zone

Four held in murder case

Coimbatore: K.G. Chavadi Police on Tuesday arrested four persons in connection with the murder of a couple at Rathinam Nagar in Pichanur Panchayat on Sunday. According to the police, V. Amalraj (43) and his wife Lakshmi were found murdered near a pond close their residence on Sunday. The same day the accused made an attempt to murder the couple’s daughter Lakshmi (15). While trying to strangulate her, they had told the girl that her parents have been murdered.

Police conduct combing operations in forests bordering Kerala

Coimbatore: Armed police personnel were involved in intensive vehicle check at Mangarai Checkpost, near Anaikatty. They stopped and searched vehicles that were entering and leaving Kerala. Four arrested for murder

Coimbatore: The Sirumugai police arrested four men on murder charge. The police said that they had arrested Arun, Karuppasamy, Sakthivel and their friend Karthi on the charge of murdering Vasu Murugan (35) of Usilampatti on June 16.
