Two held on charge of murder

Tiruvannamalai: Two persons were arrested on the charge of murdering and cremating a body secretly near here. A few days ago, people of Kunniyandhal village near Vettavalam noticed remnants of a burnt body on the outskirts of the village and informed the police. Vettavalam police booked a case and investigated the matter and cracked the case. They found it to be the body of Elumalai (34).

Four killed in accident

Thiruvannamalai: A lorry driver lost control of the vehicle and fatally hit three persons near here on Thursday. The lorry finally rammed a tree killing the driver too. Gnanasekar (26) of Thiruvaippadi was driving the lorry to Chittoor. He lost control of the vehicle when he was near Kondam.

Policemen, FoP undergo training

Tiruvannamalai: Training camp for policemen and Friends of Police (FoP) was held here on Sunday. FoP district coordinator A.A. Arumugam presided over the programme held in District Police Office campus. Nearly 200 policemen and equal number of FoP volunteers attended the camp. Psychiatry professor R. Cheyyar Police arrested protesters for Damaging Property

THIRUVANNAMALAI: Policemen from Cheyyar sub-division have arrested a total 22 Dalits on Saturday for damaging public property in and around Cheyyar during a protest condemning the desecration of Dr Ambedkar Statue recently.
