CCTVs prove crucial in crime investigation

Chennai: The decisive factor that aided investigations in the case of Ambur MLA Aslam Basha’s claims of a murderous attack on him, and the killing of Subbiah, a doctor, in R.A. Puram, last year, was the footage from closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera.  CCTVs have become extremely crucial in crime investigation.

Police to procure breath analysers

Coimbatore: To combat the rising accident rate, mainly attributed to drunk driving, the City Police are planning to buy more breath analysers. At present, equipped with just 14 breath analysers, police find it difficult to conduct checks on almost all arterial roads at night. Of the 14, invariably a handful of them would be either due for service or would turn defective. In the absence of a breath analyser, police would smell the breath of motorists to detect alcohol.

Procuring three UAVs for Police Force

A police proposal for purchasing three unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from Anna University, a move essentially aimed at better surveillance, has received financial sanction of the State government.
