Jat stir escalates in Haryana

Haryana: Violence triggered by the Jat agitation for reservation spread to more areas in Haryana on Saturday, with reports saying protesters set fire to vehicles and public and private property and blocked roads and the railway track. Four persons were reportedly killed and several injured in the State as security forces opened fire.

Crimes against women up but most cases ‘solved’

New Delhi: The capital saw a rise in crime against women last year as compared to 2014. While 5,192 cases of molestation of women were reported last year, the number was 4,322 in 2014. However, most cases were solved well in time. More than 70% of the crimes against women were worked out and chargesheeted within the fortnight of reporting the incident, police claimed.

Police remand for BSF personnel

Delhi: A Delhi court on Monday remanded BSF Head Constable Abdul Rasheed to police custody for seven days in an espionage case. The Crime Branch of the Delhi Police had arrested him on Sunday at Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir for allegedly providing intelligence to the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) of Pakistan. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Sanjay Khanagwal remanded him to police custody till December 7. Earlier, the Crime Branch produced Rasheed before the court.

Hasan’s case to push black money recoveries

New Delhi: The renewed vigour to unearth suspected blackmoney of Indians in Swiss bank accounts after a recent meeting of top officials on both sides is expected to initiate final prosecution in one of the most prominent tax crime cases related to Pune-based stud farm-owner Hasan Ali Khan.

NIA to probe Bardhaman blast

West Bengal: The Centre on Thursday transferred the Bardhaman blast case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), a day after the West Bengal police invoked the provisions of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act against the four arrested accused. A week after the incident, the Centre invoked Section 6 (5) of the NIA Act to transfer the case to the agency.

Google mapping under CBI scrutiny

New Delhi: The CBI has registered a preliminary enquiry against Google over Mapathon 2013, an event organised by the U.S. company, for allegedly violating laws by mapping sensitive areas and defence installations.

 

 

 

 

CBI registers 46 cases in Saradha scam

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered 46 cases in the Saradha chit fund scam involving over Rs.10,000 crore of public investments in schemes promising astronomical returns. The agency is likely to register more cases soon.
